YGIA POLYCLINIC'S BREASTFEEDING CONFERENCE - THE FIRST 1000 DAYS The workshop "The first 1000 days", as part of the International Breastfeeding Week, was organized with great success today by YGIA Polyclinic, in ELIAS BEACH Hotel in Limassol with the kind sponsorhips of Medela_cyprus (Marathontrading) and Kypropharm with Lansinoh products. The event honored with her presence, the lawyer and member of parliament, Mrs. Fotini Tsiridou, who talked about the importance of adequate information, as well as about her own experience, with YGIA Polyclinic, which provided her with all the support and care needed. The event opened with a short presentation of YGIA Polyclinic, by the Marketing and Business Development Manager, Mrs. Marianna Fortoma, while it continued with the speeches of the pediatricians of Iliachtida, Dr. Elli Siama and Dr Michalis Iasonides, Dr. Argyris Argyriou, from the Center Amerikos Argyriou, Mrs. Mikaela Siekkidou, Clinical Nutritionist, as well as the Midwives of YGIA Polyclinic, Mrs. Maria Aristovoulou, Mrs. Christina Hamalis and Ms. Yiota Koumoudiou. YGIA Polyclinic aims at offering a total solution of health services to the patient, through a multilevel support. Under this frame, YGIA Polyclinic has registered as a member to EUPATI Cyprus, which stands for European Patients' Academy on Therapeutic Innovation. EUPATI aims to engage patients in the decision making process on health issues, though patients' training. For all of us in YGIA Polyclinic, keeping the patient informed is crucial during the whole process. As EUPATI members, we had the pleasure to participate today, 10th September in the Training Workshop of Patients' Representatives, which took place in the Journalists' House in Nicosia. Members of EUPATI, which were also present in their majority, are Patients' Associations, the Cyprus Patient Associations' Organization (OSAK), as well as Members of the Academic Community. The workshop specifically concerned the training of patient representatives participating in committees dealing with medicines and the subject matter covered a wide range of topics, such as phases of clinical studies, generics, clinical information, international and European guidelines, patient records, etc. Speakers/Trainers at the Workshop were representatives of the Educational community (University of Nicosia, University of West Attica), HIO, as well as OSAK.

Dr. Frangoulakis is a graduate of the Medical School of the University of Sheffield (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery) with a postgraduate education at the University of Oxford, both with distinction. He has gained his knowhow and experience through his employment at Sherwood Forest Hospitals, in the United Kingdom, as head of the Radiology Department, as well as at Nottingham University Hospitals, Nottingham Breast Centre, while he also has teaching experience in UK. Dr. Frangoulakis has extensive experience, expertise and interest in breast imaging (stereotactic intervention, tomosynthesis, spectral mammography with contrast).
